Unfettered platter of words

Fool of Words

Words are empowering. I breathe life into them and lo, they are my pawn.
Words are magnetic. How they hypnotize and toss me into a lyrical dwam.

Words are influential. They incite unceasing thoughts in my mind.
Words are crystals. Their denotation is clear and defined.

Words are veracious. Their truth cannot be minced; they’re authentic.
Words are invigorating. They make this insipid statement Oh, so dramatic!

Words are chameleons. They compel me to read between the lines.
Words are comical. They roll my tongue and twist my mind.

Words are expressive. They add texture to my opinion.
Words are cohesive. They sew clauses into an eloquent composition.

Words are reconciling. They bridge the divide and fill the gaps.
Words are legit. They tell apart fiction from the facts.

Words are occult. They can subtly downplay their intent.
Words are caustic. When uttered in the heat of the moment.

Words are musical. When they play in harmony with the chord.
Words are powerful. Their edge is sharper than that of a sword.

Words are mischievous. They metamorphose with every change of a letter.
Words are enigmatic. I chase them constantly and yearn to learn them better.

DELUSION – Living a Lie (Acrostic #1)

Noxious thoughts feed a putrefying mind

A sense of entitlement envelopes a bigoted bubble

Relationships are mere objects of opportunism

Contempt ingrained in a moribund soul!

Indulged in an inflated self-image with no regard for another

Slyly playing the victim through crocodile tears

Sugar-coating devious words and

Imposing manipulative views on others

Soaked forever in sycophancy and facade

This vicious cocoon shall smother you some day

What makes an Acrostic poem interesting? Well, look closely at this poem and you will note how the first letter in each line spells out the hard-hitting theme of narcissism. The acrostic is a fun poetry form that could simply deliver a message, name or phrase in a ‘subtly straightforward’ manner!

Veiled – Nonet #1

Embellished in woe, defeat and fear

Concealer concealing her pain

Crushing her beneath its weight

A bitter tear she sheds

Is there an escape?

Lingering ache

Silenced voice

She smiles

Fate

A nonet is a nine-line poem. This interesting form of poetry progresses with a consecutive descent in syllable count with each line. Beginning with 9 syllables, it tapers off to 8, 7, 6 . . . and to finally 1 syllable in the last line!

When you’ve failed the God

Doesn’t matter, yours, his, hers or mine
How well do you know any God?

When you distort His ordinance and mar His honour
You’ve already failed the God

When you bring malign intentions to His shrine
You’ve already failed the God

When you offer Him fanaticism in the name of devotion
You’ve already failed the God

When there’s innocent blood at the edge of your sword
Know it, you’ve already failed the God

When you exploit His name for your selfish motives
You’ve already failed the God

When ‘We’ is no longer an entity but broken and bigoted
You’ve already failed the God

When you transgress the laws of humanity
You’ve already failed the God

When your identity decays to a malevolent hostile mob
You’re long dissociated from the God

Sure, you may follow one or many religions
Yet you know nothing about no God

32 for a million dollar smile

It was midnight and wickedly dark
With not a sign of light,
When suddenly, were voices heard?
From people dressed in white.

“Hey you Mr. Incisor, are too ‘straightforward’
You ought to check your advance
Might is intimidating, beauty is wile!
Your fragility effects a vulnerable stance”

“You might be thicker with more legs than I”,
Snapped Incisor to Molar in reply
Some place abysmal are fittingly concealed
Your stout bod and limbs wry”

“My elegance complements my dainty make
And with my siblings I lead the set
‘The first impression’, that’s what I make
While you crave attention, you cuss, you fret”

The furious Molar gritted disgustedly
Seeking support from others of its kind,
“I’m rightly entitled ‘the Wisdom tooth’Appears at 17-21 years of age. Hence, the name!
I chew the food, I crush, I grind”

“Ahoy”, articulated the commanding Cuspid
“You two are inefficient without a tine,
The most skilful, strong and stunning
Is none other than me, Canine”

“I have the power to tear up flesh
I need no brother, I stand alone
I trust my long leg and perfect spot
That enthrones me the Cornerstone”

“You’re mistaken”, interjected Premolar
“Your prong makes for a fearful view!
I, unlike all you replaceable teeth,
Supplant none, I’m fresh, I’m new”

“I’m safe in situ, ‘tween Canine and Molar
I’m known to crush the food with grace
Strength and charm, are both my assets
I elevate aesthetics of the face”

Friction intensified amongst the teeth,
A verbal combat, to be the boss!
Hostility and intolerant views
Turbulence, anarchy, extreme chaos

Panic! The battlefield lit up unannounced
The teeth stood frozen awhile
As lips parted, the dentist spoke
“Sound dentition warrants a million dollar smile”

Overwhelming emotions ran amid the disputants
As they agreed to end the verbal bout
Aesthetic crowns and vital roots
Are indispensable for a healthy mouth!

Word Play

Word play is so much fun.
But words astray could mean a pun.

Witty words would work wonders,
Arranged as an amusing alliteration.

A bird’s chirp and a sheep’s baa
There’s a jingle in every onomatopoeia.

Why palindrome reads the same front and back?
Like madam, level and kayak?

When words play around a similar sound
There’s resonance of an assonance.

Kick the bucket or give up the ghost
Are euphemism that mean alike.

A Soul of ballad is a Bowl of salad.
Is it a gaffe, or just spoonerism?

Oxymoron is ‘awfully good’.
Which way does it sway? I’m ‘clearly confused’.
